Well done, Mrs. Carter. Well done. I am not a huge Beyonce’ fan but credit goes where credit is deserved. Not everyone can pull off her 2013 accomplishments.Without ever listening to a word of her surprise album, I’ve compiled a list of lessons we all can learn from the woman of the hour.

1. EVERYONE DOESN’T NEED TO KNOW YOUR BUSINESS

We knew the pop diva was up to something, but weren’t quite sure. Quietly releasing a hit album that absolutely no one, besides her camp knew about takes major planning and orchestration. Yes, she would’ve still gotten all the praises because she’s Beyonce’, had we known about this project early on, but this my friends is pure genius. Silence is golden. Some of the best kept ideas should remain on back order until they’re ready to debut on the shelf.

2. GOING THE EXTRA MILE WON’T HURT

14 songs. 17 music videos. All while pulling off a major world tour? Where exactly does sleep come into play? Whether you are a Beyonce’ fan or not, you cannot knock the woman’s hustle. Beyonce’ works. The one thing that will separate this 32-year-old from her counterparts, besides extraordinary talent, is a dynamic work ethic.

Think back to one of your biggest accomplishments. It required sleepless nights, lots of tears and maybe even the confirmation of your biggest fears, however you made it. If you take a close look at Beyonce’s busy year, you’ll find that releasing an overnight hit album would not have been possible by hitting the snooze button. Sometimes a little bit of discomfort is what the doctor ordered.

3. YOUR ARE NOTHING WITHOUT THE TEAM

soldier

Now that I’ve pointed out Beyonce’s drive to succeed, it would be unfair not to recognize her team. Behind every great project is a long line of help. A lot of people, celebrities included, receive tons of accolades for their projects without the recognition of the contributions of others. Much of the ideas from this album may have been Beyonce’ brain child, but it took a team to develop them to their fullest potential.

One person cannot simply do it all themselves. Be it a pep talk from a mentor, or someone passing you a pen when your ink ran out, someone had to help you. Did you recognize them once the job was done? We all need a helping hand sometimes to attain what’s rightfully ours.

4. NO ONE REMEMBERS MEDIOCRE

This is my personal mantra. If you’re gonna go, go hard! Beyonce’s visual creativity is the driving force behind this new album. Her previous work is always incomparable to the next. This falls true with her record shattering numbers since the debut.

Autograph your work with excellence. Show the world your innovative ways and ingenious ideas. Being remembered for a great deed will take more than just putting any old thing out there.

5. LIVE LIFE ON FULL

This self-entitled album brings out a new sound and look for Beyonce’. While I won’t go into the logistics of her evolution over the years, it’s safe to say that she’s tested the waters and it worked. Live a little. The world will place you under a certain categorization, with or without your permission.

Break the mold! Go out there and be the best you that you can be. What other reason are you here for?  Be original. Be free. Be you!
