This began as an Instagram post inspired by a tweet. When I sat down to write the post, it became too long-winded even for me. I rarely discuss fashion and beauty topics because, well, that’s not my ministry. God has made room for my gifts and style isn’t one of them. But, alas, I am inspired by badass moneymaking women changing the game.
Exhibit A: Robyn Rihanna Fenty
I love her IDGAF attitude and admire her impeccable ass throwing skills.
Rihana’s decade-old career is noteworthy in a number of ways, especially her Fenty beauty reviews.
So here’s the tweet I was telling you about:
A word for God’s children.
This tweet is glorious in the regard that you should pursue your heart’s desire by any means necessary. God will ALWAYS provide.
Ephesians 3:20-21 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
But this isn’t a Christian blog. That word doesn’t say a damn thing about being basic and unoriginal.
I have a small caveat to the aforementioned tweet. I agree you shouldn’t talk yourself out of a goal because ‘everyone else is doing it.’ You have the ability to block your blessings with small thinking. Yes, we are in a society of bandwagon products and services and copycat plagiarists. And, yes, with proper strategy you can accumulate the proper following and influence to successfully market any idea. But how often do we deliver impactful solutions?
Every industry is crowded. Competition is fierce and no one remembers mediocre. To succeed, it’s not about who’s in the race beside you, how you win the race or even when you decide to show up to compete. Tom came before Mark Zuckerberg and you see how that worked out.
Victory is determined by your intent. Who are you ultimately serving?
Creators, founders, and companies stand out when their products are most vital to the largest audience when compared their competitors. For instance, there are thousands of makeup + beauty brands and some with a legacy that stretches over 100 years. Rihanna didn’t need to be the first or the smartest. Rhianna didn’t create a makeup line for fuck’s sake (told you this wasn’t a Christian blog) or because she wanted to strengthen her resume as a businesswoman (yeah she did). Instead, Rihanna used her preexisting influence and wealth to develop products for ALL women to feel represented in a beauty brand. At the end of the day, Fenty Beauty is a reminder to women, especially women of color that they matter. That’s the true beauty of Fenty. And look at the outcome. Her sales are projected to surpass her $10 million deal with Kendo Brands.
Her Fenty Beauty reviews are positively radiant (see what I did there.)
Fenty’s tagline lives up to the product, “Beauty for All.”

Imagine the progress you can achieve if your life’s work reflected humanity and not vanity.
